Summer camp is scheduled for July 10-16 at Sinoquipe.
Nov. 6 we’ll climb to the top of Jack’s Mountain and have lunch with a view. Meet at the scouthouse at 8:30. We’ll tentatively return around 3PM. Pack a lunch, water, first aid kit, sturdy shoes, good socks, and appropriate layers for cool weather.
Our troop will help the Needmore Community Center with the Route 70 cookie and coffee break. Officially the troop helps with shifts on Sun, Sept. 5, but are welcome to serve Fri, Sept. 3, and Mon, Sept. 6. Each scout is asked to bring eight dozen cookies in labeled bags (2-4 cookies per bag). Bring a camp chair and a water bottle.
Scouts plan to earn the Snorkeling BSA patch Sun, Aug. 29, at the Sinoquipe pool. Those going to SeaBase are to earn this patch in preparation, but all scouts are welcome to earn it. Contact Kate if planning to attend.
Our fall court of honor will be Oct. 22 at 6:30. Board of review is Oct. 8. Scouts should prepare to finish badges and rank requirements by Oct. 8.
The Needmore Community Center sponsors a raffle drawing to raise funds for the scout house upkeep and insurance. The raffle drawing will be at Gordon’s Cruise-In Aug. 14 at 6PM.
The Fulton County Fair has asked us to take care of the trash and bathrooms Aug. 1-7. Scouts and families are asked to help with at least two shifts during the week. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year.
Regular Friday night meetings begin again with school. Meetings are at 6:30 at the scout house. There will also be a committee meeting Aug. 27 for fall planning. During the year, we follow the no school no scouts policy.
The troop will campout at Shawnee State Park June 11-13. We will kayak and work on camping badge prerequisites. Check email from the scoutmaster for details about gear, food, and activities.
With the pandemic, the troop will stay in council and hopefully be able to attend Camp Sinoquipe on site this year. We are scheduled for July 11-17.
